Ronnie Fieg for Asics Gel-Lyte III - The Palette
Ronnie Fieg continues his storied partnership with Asics to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Gel-Lyte III. This celebration manifested into his largest project with Asics to date, as he introduces a concept entitled “The Palette”.
Fieg’s collaborative footwear career started in 2007, as he redesigned the Asics Gel-Lyte III in three color variations. Fieg has continued his partnership with Asics every year since and has worked on the Gel-Lyte III every year but one. With 2020 being the 30th anniversary of this iconic silhouette, Fieg created a concept based on the idea of “30” and created a collection of 30 pairs of Asics inspired by Kith’s signature palette.
To create this palette, 30 colors were taken from Kith products that have released over the brand’s 9-year timeline. The colors were strategically chosen to shape a gradient that was then applied to the Gel-Lyte III, resulting in 30 unique colorways.
Each model features a tonal premium pigskin suede upper and a subtly contrasting tonal sole unit. The classic split tongue continues to be the highlight of this silhouette, while featuring debossed logos – “30” on the left shoe and “Fieg” in the Asics font on the right. Co-branded details are also seen on the footbeds of each pair, while accompanied by custom packaging and three sets of extra laces. Retail is $180 USD.
All 30 pairs of the Ronnie Fieg for Asics “The Palette” will release on Black Friday, November 27th, at all Kith shops and at 11AM EST on Kith.com.
The 30 colors are comprised of:
Battleship, Hurricane, Monsoon, Argon, Echo, Genesis, Torpedo, Asteroid, Elevation, Avalanche, Saddle, Mantle, Quicksand, Molecule, Pyramid, Magma, Rogue, Dusty Mauve, French Clay, Dusty Quartz, Monarch, Astro, Plaster, Hallow, Waffle, Anchor, Majestic, Summit, Helium, and Chalk.
