Nike Spiridon & Talaria Medal Stand Editorial by Kith
This Friday, Nike and Kith will officially open the doors to our collaborative pop-up shop. Coinciding with the opening will be the release of special new USA-themed colorways for two classic running silhouettes - the Spiridon and the Talaria. The Spiridon and Talaria both represent a rich history for Nike's progressive running technology, as both helped to pioneer the innovative Zoom Air cushioning system in 1997. The Spiridon focused on creating a lightweight ride through the use of breathable mesh for the entire upper and pairing it with an equally light Phylon midsole. This sneaker signaled a step forward for Nike, and was famously worn by track-and-field legend Michael Johnson. While the Spiridon progressed Nike, the Talaria continued the brand's surge. The Talaria was crafted by some of Nike's most revered designers at the time, including the incomparable Tinker Hatfield, and sought to be the "perfect running shoe". The Talaria's streamlined upper is only outdone by its bottom-loaded Zoom Air technology, which occupies 3/4 of the midsole to put the wearer as close to the ground as possible.
These all-new Olympic colorways of the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon and Air Zoom Talaria release this Friday at the Nike x Kith Shop at 644 Broadway.
