Kith x ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III Tokyo Trio
Ronnie Fieg continues his long-established relationship with ASICS to design three new versions of the iconic GEL-LYTE™ III sneaker. All three pairs derive inspiration from different elements of Tokyo, a continued celebration of Kith’s recently opened flagship store.
The GEL-LYTE™ III 252.1 shoe is Fieg’s reimagining of his first-ever collaboration from 2007, known as the 252 Pack. The original colorway was inspired by a Tokyo-exclusive colorway that Fieg wanted to bring stateside. This new rendition retains elements of the original’s color palette, but through a modern lens. The primarily black upper features premium nubuck with metallic gold leather ASICS stripes and a pigskin suede red toe.
The GEL-LYTE™ III Yoshino Rose sneaker takes its name from the yoshino cherry tree, otherwise known as a sakura tree, which is known in Tokyo for their beautiful cherry blossoms. During the cherry blossom season, these trees bloom into a stunning shade of light pink and are celebrated in Japan. This model features a white mesh vamp and leather toe wrap that is overlayed with soft off-white pigskin suede panels and rose-colored Tiger stripes.
Lastly, the GEL-LYTE™ III Super Gold sneaker is a nod to the events that were scheduled to take place in Tokyo this year, but have now been pushed to next year. This model uses premium white leather for the entirety of the upper with metallic gold leather Tiger stripes, and color blocked red and navy outsoles.
All three models also feature Fieg-branding in the font of the GEL™ logo on the split tongues and footbeds and come in custom boxes with extra laces. The Ronnie Fieg x ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III Tokyo Trio releases this Monday, July 27th, at 11AM EST on Kith.com. The only Kith shops to carry this release will be our Tokyo flagship, Hirshleifers, Bergdorf Goodman, and Selfridges. Each pair will retail for $180 USD.
