A Conversation with Michael Doret

Ronnie Fieg sat down to have a conversation with Michael Doret, the legendary graphic designer and creator of the New York Knicks logo. Over the course of his multi-decade career, Michael has created logos and letterforms seen across film, books, games, products, and much more.

For this season’s collection with the Knicks, we partnered with Michael to unarchive a range of logos he developed in 1991 while creating the team’s final logo, that ultimately were not used. We worked with him to complete these sketches and concepts, which served as the foundation of this year’s design approach.

Michael will also be at the Chase Lounge in Madison Square Garden this upcoming Friday for Kith Night, where he will be signing copies of his latest book—Growing Up in Alphabet City: The Unexpected Letterform Art of Michael Doret.
